General Consumption Tax (GCT) Rate Reduces from 16.5% to 15% Effective April 1, 2020

Effective Wednesday, April 1, 2020 the Standard Rate of General Consumption Tax (GCT) payable in respect to taxable goods and services will be 15%. This is a reduction from the previous rate of 16.5%. 

The new GCT rate of 15% has been published in the Jamaica Gazette dated March 30, 2020, volume number CLXIII, No. 61, titled The Provisional Collection of Tax (General Consumption Tax) Order 2020

Persons wishing to obtain a copy of the Gazette pertaining to this new GCT rate may do so from the Government Printing Office. Tax Administration Jamaica and the Jamaica Customs Agency will publish the usual bulletins and advisories with the updated information.
